The Study of Quantified Noun Phrase in Persian

Abstract


This paper focuses on the structural properties of quantified noun phrases in Persian language. Based on the Giusti's hypothesis, it will be argued that, first, quantified noun phrases are of category QP in Persian ,namely that the quantifier (Q,) on a par with the determiner (D), is a functional head that always dominates a definite nominal (DP) and indefinite one (NP) or a prepositional phrase (PP),1and second, a certain number of quantifiers act as adjectives.
