Entrepreneurship in Greece: A Way Out of the Crisis or a Dive In?
Abstract
The current article examines the status and role of entrepreneurship in the Greek economy. It presents data on entrepreneurship and business demographic data as size classes, employment, value added and business failure. It also presents data on the barriers met by Greek enterprises. The final conclusion is that entrepreneurship, and especially SMEs, do play a vital role in Greek economy, but business prospects at the moment are not very good. There is an urgent need for political and economic reform in order to support SMEs’ operation and secure their valuable contribution to economy.
