iGenics Review

Keratectasia occurs when either too much corneal iGenics tissue is removed or the corneal flap is cut too deeply. The cornea is the protective covering of the eyeball and with Keratectasia the eye will bulge because the cornea has been compromised. Those who are unfortunate enough to experience this complication find that further Lasik surgery cannot be used to treat the resulting vision problems. Special contact lenses or corneal implants are the most commonly accepted treatments. Astigmatism is defined as an abnormal curvature of the cornea. Irregular astigmatism occurs when Lasik surgery is done incorrectly, leaving the cornea with a rough surface. It can also be caused by Lasik surgery which is not properly centred on the eye. Irregular astigmatism is considered a minor complication which can be corrected with a second surgery. Dry eye is one of the most common side effects of Lasik and can lead to infection. Patients who suffer with dry eye are usually treated with artificial tears until the eye is fully recovered.
