Winston Massam completed his PhD in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy, University of British Columbia, Canada. Before joining UBC, he saved in both Secondary and Post-Secondary Educational Institutions in the capacity of Science Teacher, Tutor, Instructor, and Assistant Lecturer in Science Education, Educational Measurement and Evaluation, Educational Statistics, and Research Methodology. His current research is on how science learning that incorporates both classroom and out of classroom real life learning activities might influence students’ learning and achievement, and in turn, their teacher pedagogical practices in such contexts as Tanzania. Particularly, his research involves working with Wajasiriamali - the small-scale manufacturing and processing artisans, whose work is believed to embody diversity of applied science from which students can investigate and learn. Eventually, his aim is to promote the teaching of relevant, meaningful, active and engaging science. Winston has also a long-term interest and experience in teaching Educational Assessment, Measurement Evaluation and Research Methodology courses, and is currently holding a UBC certificate of distinction in MERM.
Winston is curently an Assistant Professor at Aga Khan University, Institute for Education and Development, East Africa, Dar es Salaam Tanzania.
