A Functional-Mechanical Pattern Analysis of Cross-Linguistic Phonetic-Semantic Matrices: A Probabilistic Validation

Abstract


Orthodox historical linguistics predominantly relies on rigid, isolated family-tree models and static structural roots to explain lexical developments. However, this approach frequently fails to account for systematic phonetic-semantic convergences across supposedly unrelated ancient and modern tongues. Building upon the foundational framework established by Bektaşoğlu (2026), this paper introduces the Functional-Mechanical Pattern Analysis (FMPA) model. Rejecting the dogmatic concept of static "linguistic roots," we present a dynamic matrix of 32 core semantic patterns spanning Sumerian, Akkadian, Sanskrit, Latin, and modern languages. Through the application of robust probabilistic frameworks and Chi-Square ($\chi^2$) goodness-of-fit testing, we demonstrate that the correlation between specific acoustic transformations ($D \ rightarrow Y$, $G \ rightarrow K$, metathesis, and mimation loss) and their corresponding motor-functional meanings yields a probability value of $p < 0.01$. These mathematical findings validate that cross-linguistic lexical iterations are governed by universal cognitive and mechanical laws of the human mind rather than random historical drift.
